Break Time Deductions and How to Address Them
Support Article: Break Time Deductions and How to Address Them
Overview
Some facilities automatically deduct break time from shifts based on their policies. If you did not take a break but notice a deduction, this article will guide you on how to address the situation and ensure your time is corrected if necessary.
Understanding Break Time Deductions
- Facility-Managed Policies
- Break deductions are determined by the facility where you worked, not Quinable.
- Facilities may automatically deduct break time based on their standard policies, regardless of whether a break was taken.
- Quinable’s Role
- Quinable facilitates time tracking but does not adjust time entries, including break deductions. Time adjustments must be made by the facility.
Steps to Address Break Deductions
- Contact the Facility
- Inform the facility’s scheduler or administrator if no break was taken during your shift.
- Provide specific details about the shifts in question, including dates and times, to assist their review.
- Document Break Information
- For future shifts, use the notes section in the Quinable app to document whether you took a break or not.
- Adding notes helps the facility review your time more accurately during the approval process.
- Follow Up on Adjustments
- After notifying the facility, confirm that they’ve reviewed your time and made any necessary adjustments.
Tips to Avoid Break Deductions in the Future
- Communicate in Real-Time:
- Inform the facility before the end of your shift if you did not take a break.
- Use the Quinable App Features:
- Ensure your time clock entries and notes reflect your actual hours worked and whether breaks were taken.
- Monitor Your Time Submissions:
- Double-check your time entries in the Quinable app to ensure they accurately reflect your work hours before submitting them for approval.
Important Reminder
Quinable does not adjust time or override facility policies. All time-related concerns, including break deductions, must be resolved directly with the facility.
